The Bemidji State University Alumni & Foundation has launched “Discover3,” a university-wide initiative designed to build a career ecosystem that connects students, faculty, alumni, and industry partners in meaningful ways.
Discover3 is Bemidji State’s central hub where career readiness, alumni connections, and industry engagement converge. It’s an outside-the-box approach to higher education career readiness, and it’s a program that doesn’t end when students walk across the stage at graduation.
Discover3 director Angela Schmidt said the launch marks an exciting new chapter for Bemidji State University.
“We’re creating a true career ecosystem that will support success in the classroom and benefit students deep into their future careers,” Schmidt said. “Whether you’re a student, a graduate, or an industry partner, we’re ready to help you discover what’s possible.”
Built on the three pillars of “Discover Self,” “Discover Community,” and “Discover Career,” this initiative supports students as they develop skills, expand networks, and prepare for life beyond Bemidji State University. Discover3 also helps alumni looking to navigate their careers or support the current students following in their footsteps, and it allows corporate partners and local businesses opportunities to engage on campus and beyond with the students they may one day hire.
Additionally, Discover3 includes the new Beaver Mentors program, which is designed to match BSU alumni with current students, new grads, and like-minded alums to guide and support those seeking help in their professional careers. Over 50 mentors have already signed up and are ready to start engaging with students, who can find a match for free. Alumni interested in volunteering can also sign up on the Discover3 webpage.
“Discover3 is about more than just programs; it’s about building bridges,” Schmidt said. “This initiative strengthens the ways our alumni, community, and campus come together to provide pathways that prepare our students for the world.”
