Arizona is at the heart of the latest Bemidji State University initiative.

The BSU Alumni & Foundation has launched its new Alumni Networks program, which revives the old Alumni Chapters under a new name and similar charge. The first hub to launch is the Arizona Network, with more groups across the country still to come in the future.

Bemidji State’s Alumni Networks program is meant to foster a strong and engaged community among alumni and friends. It’s about creating meaningful connections, providing opportunities for professional and personal development and supporting the university’s strategic goals. Alumni Networks aim to cultivate a sense of pride and loyalty among graduates while contributing to the overall success and reputation of BSU.

Active members receive a number of benefits, including early access to Bemidji State’s spring/summer digital magazine; network-specific swag; free admittance to network events and more. Additionally, a majority of the membership fees go toward funding a scholarship for a current BSU student.

Network members also have the distinction – and the special responsibility – of serving as ambassadors for Bemidji State within their communities.

“We’re so excited to revive the Alumni Networks program because of what it’ll mean for our alums,” said Angela Schmidt, the BSUAF’s director of alumni and career advancement. “It’s all about more connection and more opportunity for our alumni – no matter where they are or what they do – and that’s exactly what these networks are going to provide.”

The Arizona Network is built for anyone who wants to be a part of the action happening in the Grand Canyon State. Arizona residency, whether permanent or seasonal, is not required. The group is open to all Beavers in the region – including those who didn’t graduate from BSU but still hold it near and dear to their hearts.

Launch party coming in April

Bemidji State University is also hosting an Arizona Network launch party on April 11-12, which is open to all registered group members and interested newcomers.

The festivities include an alumni social from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, in Sun City West, and then an Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game at 5:10 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, in Phoenix.

The alumni social is free to attend for all. Tickets for the D-backs game are free for registered members of the Arizona Network and include an unlimited buffet of ballpark fare food and Pepsi products. Ticket prices are $68 for non-registered members and still come with all-you-can-eat food and drink.

More networks are in development

Other regional Alumni Networks are still to come. Those targeted for development include groups based in northern Minnesota, southern Minnesota, Florida and Seattle.
