The Bemidji State University Alumni & Foundation has launched a new special initiative with its Replant Our Roots Project, a fundraiser aimed at replanting trees following the June 2025 storm that swept through town and felled hundreds of mature trees on campus.
The Alumni & Foundation invites supporters to be a part of the project by donating a tree at $1,000 each. The gift will be a permanent, tangible example of donors’ legacies at Bemidji State, and it will ensure that future generations can have that trademark experience of learning in the beautiful North Woods.
Every full donation comes with a plaque to recognize the donor and/or anyone they’d like to dedicate the tree to. Donors will also be invited to campus in the spring of 2026 to plant their tree themselves. A limited number of trees are available and will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.
As a thank you from Bemidji State, every full donation comes with a wooden gift to commemorate each donor’s dedication to tree planting and to the university’s cornerstone value of sustainability. This gift is made possible through an exclusive partnership with Woodchuck USA, whose products are all sustainably sourced and made.
For those who would like to be involved but can’t sponsor a full tree, the Alumni & Foundation encourages them to give whatever amount they can to still be part of this important initiative at Bemidji State. Every $1,000 raised means a new tree will rise up at BSU, so each dollar matters as the university grows a new look for its hallmark University in the Pines identity.
