Bucky the Beaver’s favorite event of the summer returns to the diamond on June 10 when the Bemidji State University Alumni & Foundation hosts the second annual Bucky’s Celebrity Softball Game.

Well-known alumni and friends from the Bemidji community will take part in the family-friendly event, which is the latest installment of BSU’s Community Appreciation Day series and is meant to show our gratitude for the community’s support of Bemidji State.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the BSU softball field, and admission is free for everyone. Additionally, giveaways and prizes will be up for grabs throughout the game — such as Twins tickets and Bemidji State stadium blankets — and all attendees will have the chance to enter for free. The Bemidji Dirty Dough food truck will also be on hand, and there will even be a special kids zone area with extra activities.

Players’ skill levels promise to range from “just here for kicks” to “playing for MVP.” And although we’ll keep score, we primarily want to have fun while showcasing the best of our Bemidji community.

Rosters for the Green Sox and the Whitecaps will be announced leading up to the game, allowing fans to pick their allegiance and cheer on their favorite squad.
