Career Advancement at Bemidji State University has transitioned its physical space from Decker Hall to the BSU Alumni & Foundation houses. The strategic evolution will help establish a new home for ever-increasing student and alumni support.

Career Advancement director Jaimee Duffy and management analyst Lisa Gubrud now have offices on the second floor of the Phil Sauer House, located at 1509 Birchmont Drive NE, Bemidji, MN 56601.

This transition is also more than a change of scenery; it is an innovative shift designed to enhance BSU’s long-term sustainability by fostering deeper student engagement and providing robust resources for professional advancement from day one.

Central to this evolution is the Discover3 strategy. Rather than a static model, Discover3 is a proactive three-pillar framework designed to blend student resources, alumni engagement, and industry partnership to create an ecosystem that benefits all sides.

The new center at the Sauer House is designed to enhance service delivery across Discover3. Through Discover3, Career Advancement can provide a streamlined, high-visibility platform for industry partners to engage with BSU regarding internships and employment opportunities for our students.

Updates to the Sauer House are scheduled to commence in the spring.

“Our modernized space in the historic Sauer House will serve as a bridge between BSU’s rich history and our students’ professional futures,” Duffy said. “By engaging with our resources early, students aren’t just earning a degree — they are fueling a lifetime of success.”

Career Advancement previously came under the Alumni & Foundation umbrella in May 2024. For more information about Career Advancement, contact Duffy at jaimee.duffy@bemidjistate.edu or 218-755-2206, or visit bemidjistate.edu/services/career.
