Gary Canivez

Class of 1982

Gary Canivez recently published a book, Assessing Psychometric Fitness of Intelligence Tests: Toward Evidence-Based Interpretation Practices, which also serves as a “Festschrift” in honor of his colleague and good friend, Marley W. Watkins. As a psychology major at BSU from 1979-82, Gary was influenced by BSU professors Oscar Rouck, James Rafferty, and Russell Bennett, who are noted in the book’s preface. He is now in his 31st year as a professor of psychology at Eastern Illinois University, primarily teaching graduate courses in the school psychology program with emphases in psychological measurement; assessment of intelligence; and assessment of social, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
