Dick Gustafson
Class of 1965
Dick Gustafson, who started the boys’ high school hockey program at Alexandria’s Jefferson High School in 1967, was recently inducted into the Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2024. After moving to Alexandria in 1965 and noticing the lack of an organized team, Gustafson stepped in to create and coach the high school program for 11 years. His coaching career spanned several decades, including time with junior and amateur teams, before retiring in 2010. Gustafson’s Hall of Fame induction comes as a recognition of his long-lasting impact on the local hockey community.
