Board of Directors Nomination

You can apply to join the Alumni & Foundation's Board of Directors or nominate another qualified candidate for consideration by filling out the form on this page. Board members can serve one or two three-year terms and make a difference in a variety of ways and areas of expertise.

We are committed to building a diverse and engaged board that reflects the excellence of our university community. Here's what we look for in board members:

Dedicated leadership: A strong commitment to the mission and vision of Bemidji State University.

Strategic thinking: The ability to contribute to the long-term success of the university through effective planning and decision-making.

Financial acumen: A solid understanding of financial matters and a willingness to provide an oversight of university resources.

Philanthropic engagement: A demonstrated commitment to philanthropy and a passion for supporting Bemidji State University.

Diverse backgrounds: We value a wide range of experiences, backgrounds and perspectives on our board. We particularly encourage nominations that reflect the strength of our Indigenous community.

Nominations Process:

  • The Trusteeship and Governance Committee accepts nominations throughout the year.
  • Nominations are reviewed in the spring.
  • Newly appointed board members begin their term at our Homecoming meeting. (The board convenes three times per year; typically in February, June and September.)
