The Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is bringing a Learn to Play Initiative for young American Indian girls to campus on Monday, April 22. Participants will get the chance to learn to play ball hockey while hearing from pioneers and trailblazers in athletics inside the John Glas Fieldhouse.

There will also be an athlete panel featuring Rosalie Fish, a University of Washington long-distance runner and an Indigenous people’s advocate; Amber Fryklund, the BSU women’s hockey associate head coach; Mya Headrick, a current BSU women’s hockey player and a member of the Garden River First Nation Indigenous community; and more.

Registration for the event will run from 3:45-4:20 p.m., followed by a welcome, the panel, skills stations and a scrimmage.

Girls ages 8-16 are welcome to attend.
