It’s no secret that Tamarack Hall is the tallest building in Beltrami County. (Though upperclassmen often like to trick freshmen by saying the library is now taller… because it has more stories.)
But just how tall is Tamarack? Or, perhaps more importantly, how many times would we have to stack Bucky the Beaver on top of himself in order to reach the height of campus’ highest residence hall?
For the sake of our calculations, we’ll assume that Bucky is an even six feet tall. (Our ever-elusive beaver has never sat still quite long enough for an official measurement.) And we’re measuring from the basement slab to the top of the penthouse.

Tamarack Hall has the best views in town overlooking the lake, the city of Bemidji and the splendor of the north country. The 12th floor features study and social lounges, from which you can see for miles. No matter the season, the views are majestic and breathtaking.
Tamarack is home to more than 350 residents on 12 floors and is also part of the First Year Residential Experience program. It has two floors for students interested in outdoor adventure, an indoor adventures floor and the Honors Learning Community.
The $2 million project was first used in the fall of 1969 — despite the fact that the elevators weren't working.
