Loren Kleinschmidt

Loren attended Bemidji State College, graduating in 1972 with a degree in education. After graduation, he married his wife of 53 years, Jane, and together they made their home in Long Prairie. Loren began his career teaching fourth and sixth grade in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, where he taught for 10 years. He later transitioned into corrections, working as a counselor at the Sauk Centre Home School until its closure in 1999, then continuing his service as a corrections sergeant at the Rush City prison, where he spent the final years of his career. Loren will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and love for his family. He was known for his elaborate Christmas light displays, which earned him a trip to Disney World. A voracious reader, Loren also enjoyed cheering on the Vikings, Twins and Wild.
