Bemidji State men's golf junior Logan Schoepp held off the competition to earn medalist honors at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men's Golf Championship on Saturday, April 19, in Blue Springs, Missouri, becoming the 17th BSU golfer to win the individual title.
Schoepp is also a student worker in the BSU Alumni & Foundation office, where he serves as a student assistant for athletic giving and sponsorships under Jesse Katz.
Schoepp was under par in all three rounds, the only golfer in the conference to do so on the 72-par course. He finished with a 7-under-par 209 (68-71-70), leading wire-to-wire and edging out Concordia-St. Paul's Thomas Gutzmer by one stroke. Schoepp is the first Beaver to win the individual conference championship since Chris Swenson did so in 2021.
As a team, the Beavers tied for third with Minnesota State Mankato, shooting 884 (294-290-300), while Concordia-St. Paul won the team title with a combined score of 862 (294-289-279).
Bemidji State freshman Brogan Paschal followed Schoepp and tied for 23rd, finishing with a three-round score of 226 (78-70-78). He was followed closely by Koby Kuenzel (77-76-74=227) and Tate Usher (77-73-78=228), who respectively tied for 25th and 29th. Fifth-year senior Jack Southard rounded out the Beavers' five competitors, shooting 231 (72-80-79) and placing 33rd.
CSP earns an automatic bid to the Super Regional. A total of 80 teams and 32 individuals will be selected for regional competition. There will be four regional sites, where two regions will meet and conduct regional tournaments. The NCAA Central/Midwest Super Regional will be played on May 8-10 at St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Missouri. Two individuals and a minimum of three teams from each regional will advance to the finals, while the eight remaining team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships. Selections will be announced on Friday, April 25, via a press release on NCAA.com.
