Mike and Tracy Roberge have been named Bemidji State University's 2025 Philanthropists of the Year for their dedicated support of BSU students and initiatives. They will be formally recognized at this fall's Honors Gala, which is set for Oct. 3.

The Roberges have made significant contributions to the For the North campaign as its lead donors. Mike was a first-generation college student and is a 1990 Bemidji State University alumnus who now serves as chair of the board of directors at the Boston-based MFS Investment Services, one of the world's most successful investment firms. He previously served as MFS CEO, among other high-ranking roles, and was also BSU's 2024 Distinguished Minnesotan. Mike and Tracy's philanthropic dedication to Bemidji State has resulted in critical funding for the RISE (formerly SUCCESS) program, the university's marketing and enrollment, and opportunity scholarships for students.

Allyssa "A.J." Joseph, the Alumni & Foundation's executive director and the vice president for university advancement, sees the Roberges as perfect ambassadors for what the Philanthropist of the Year award stands for.

"Mike and Tracy have been incredible partners in the For the North campaign," Joseph said. "Their commitment to seeing our students succeed is inspiring, and so many areas of our university are benefitting from their generosity. Mike knows firsthand what it's like to be a first-generation college student at Bemidji State, and he and Tracy are giving back in a way that will support those who are following in his footsteps. The Philanthropist of the Year award is just a small tribute to the impact Mike and Tracy have made, but we couldn't be more proud to honor them in this way."

The Philanthropist of the Year award, established in 2024, recognizes individuals who significantly impact the university through their exceptional commitment as a financial and/or engaged supporter of the institution. The award is meant to celebrate those who go beyond simply giving and actively cultivate a culture of philanthropy at BSU through storytelling, volunteerism, activism, collaboration, and humility. Keith Johanneson was the inaugural recipient last fall.

Mike and Tracy Roberge will be celebrated during the Honors Gala, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the Sanford Center. Registration is now open for the event, and attendees can secure their tickets by clicking the button below or by visiting bsualumni.org/gala.
