Over 1,250 people packed downtown Bemidji and partied like it was 1919 again in celebration of Bemidji State University's 100th anniversary on October 5, 2019.
BSU alumni, friends, supporters and community members jammed the space between Third and Fourth Streets once again for the 12th annual Beaver Block Party & Street Dance, a BSU Homecoming tradition. The band The Front Fenders wowed the crowd, still ecstatic from BSU Football's thrilling 21-20 Homecoming victory over Augustana earlier in the day, with popular music covers from all eras until 12:30 a.m.
The street dance is hosted by the BSU Bemidji Area Alumni chapter and all proceeds from the event are donated to fund scholarships for Bemidji State students. The Bemidji Fire Department, Theta Tau Epsilon (OTE), BSU Alumni & Foundation staff and other volunteers were key in the success of the event.
Bernick's was the presenting sponsor of this year's street dance. Other sponsors included Bemidji Brewing, Brigid's Pub, Bemidji Elk's Club, Hard Times and Keg N' Cork.
Alumni and friends of the university are encouraged to save the date for BSU Homecoming 2020 on October 1-4, 2020.
