Alumni benefits

All Bemidji State graduates, or former students who have completed at least 36 quarter credit hours or 32 semester credit hours, are considered alumni of BSU and are eligible for a variety of benefits.

Chris (Beberg) Latzke ’02

Chris Latzke, a 2002 Bemidji State University graduate, has been named the new vice president of programs at the Occupational Development Center (ODC) in Bemidji. She will oversee the growth of ODC’s services, job placement initiatives, and training programs. Latzke brings over 30 years of experience in human services. Before joining ODC, she served as executive director of the Northwoods Battered Women’s Shelter and held leadership roles at Lutheran Social Services. She holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Hamline University. Latzke looks forward to leading efforts that provide employment and training opportunities for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to work.

They have moved into post housing to take advantage of an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) home. Her husband Don, who has frontotemporal dementia, benefits greatly from this arrangement, as the accessible features of the home make caregiving much easier. The housing provides comprehensive support, including interior and exterior maintenance, leaving them responsible only for daily tasks like housekeeping, laundry, and cooking.

Chad Bullock, a Bemidji State University graduate, is now the CEO and general manager of Paul Bunyan Communications. After a year of mentorship under outgoing leader Gary Johnson, Bullock officially takes on the leadership role, bringing decades of experience in telecommunications.

Originally from the Remer, Minn., area, Bullock studied technology at Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Wadena and later earned a management degree from BSU while working for Blackduck Telephone Company. He has held leadership roles at Emily Cooperative Telephone and West Central Telephone in Sebeka.

Bullock is committed to continuing Paul Bunyan Communications’ mission to serve cooperative members and expand broadband to underserved areas while maintaining strong community ties.

She has served in a variety of roles within the Hibbing School District, and she currently works as a Title One teacher at Greenhaven Elementary, where she supports students in building critical foundational skills for success.
