Gail Nucech inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame

Gail (Hecimovich) Nucech, a 1969 Bemidji State graduate, was inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame on June 25, 2024. Nucech coached at Hibbing High School for 44 years, holding stints in volleyball, basketball, softball, track and field, and gymnastics from 1969-2012. Volleyball was her main sport, and she finished that tenure with a career record of 884-254 with 23 state tournament appearances and the 1975 Class AA state championship. Nucech was already a member of the Bemidji State University Athletic Hall of Fame (1990), the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame (2011), and Hibbing High School Hall of Fame (2015).
