Rachel Will of Northfield, Minn. was always committed to academics but took a year off to join the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps. During the full-time program for young adults, she developed leadership skills by completing 1,700 hours of community service. Rachel spent 10 months traveling to Utah, Oregon, Washington and California working with a variety of non-profits. She helped disadvantaged populations and worked on environmental improvement projects and even learned to operate a chainsaw.

Scholarship support helps keep her grounded. “I am very grateful for the scholarship support I have received because it gives me the power to balance all the demands of my life including school, athletics, work and other activities.”

With the help of scholarships, she was able to study abroad in Salamanca, Spain, in Fall 2018. Rachel is majoring in elementary education and Spanish. Her fully immersive experience in Spain has inspired her to pursue an opportunity to complete her elementary education degree by teaching abroad during the fall of 2020.
