Rod Heisler
Class of '80
Rod Heisler, a dual-sport athlete at Bemidji State, was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame on June 15, 2024. The former Beaver played baseball and hockey at BSU before graduating in 1980. He was an all-conference and all-district honoree in baseball, and he was an NAIA national champion in 1979 with men’s hockey. Heisler competed for Canada’s baseball team in the 1984 Olympics (he was even the Opening Day starter) and was rostered in the 1988 Olympics. Additionally, the southpaw pitched for Canada in three Amateur World Series (1978, 1980, 1982), three Pan Am Games (1979, 1983, 1987) three Intercontinental Cups (1981, 1983, 1985), one Pacific Cup (1986) and one World Cup (1988).
