Approximately 70 BSU social work alumni, faculty and staff and students attended the 50th Anniversary of Social Work conference held on April 22 at BSU's American Indian Resource Center.

The celebration's keynote speaker, Cheri Goodwin '11, executive director of Ombimindwaa Gidinawemaaganinaadog (Uplifting Our Relatives), spoke in depth about how she and her team are supporting the Red Lake Nation through 'decolonized' approaches to child and family services. Alumni panelists Walfste Pierre '11 and Laurie York '06 shared their perspectives on working in the social work field through the COVID-19 pandemic.

BSU social work alumni who are interested in becoming involved with the program by offering mentorship, career advice, guest lectures or other support to current BSU social work students are encouraged to contact Emily Paine, BSU professor of social work, at (218) 755-2849 or via email.
