Joan Jacobson authored a newly published biography on Dr. Martha Hughes Cannon titled "Dr. Martha Cannon of Utah: The Unexpected Victorian Life of America's First Female State Senator." Jacobson is also the author of Colorado Phantasmagorias, winner of the Colorado Authors League Nonfiction History book of the year for 2022; and Small Secrets, a novel set in 1970s Minnesota.
