Rick Herder
Class of '77
Dr. Rick Herder retired in May 2023 from his faculty teaching position in the communications studies program at Southwest Minnesota State University. In January 2023, he also received the MLK Humanitarian Award from SMSU, which recognizes and honors individuals from the SMSU campus and community whose active, meaningful and uplifting advocacy aligns with Dr. King’s work to dismantle racial, economic and social injustice. Herder and his family now live in northern Georgia.
