The Bemidji State University Alumni & Foundation is proud to release two digitized versions of "University in the Pines" (1994), which are now freely available to the public.
University in the Pines is a book authored by late Dr. Arthur O. “Art” Lee – a professor emeritus at BSU and unofficially the grandfather of Bemidji State history. The book, published in 1994 as an expansion of his 1969 work "College in the Pines," is considered the definitive historical narrative of Bemidji State University.
Along with the book's original release came a documentary by the same name. The 21-minute video also tells the tale of Bemidji State's first 75 years of existence – plus all that was going on around town and in the world. The documentary includes rare footage, photos, testimonials and more from throughout the 20th century.
