Registration is now open for the annual Howe-Welle Women's Athletics Golf Tournament hosted by Bemidji State University.
The event will be held on Aug. 23 at the Bemidji Town and Country Club and will include golf, a social gathering, a silent auction and dinner.
Participants will compete in a four-person scramble with a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start. Registration is available online and covers 18 holes of golf, a tee gift, a meal and two carts per team. The fee is $150 per golfer, with an option for meal-only tickets at $25. The meal will begin at approximately 3 p.m.
Proceeds from the tournament and silent auction will benefit BSU’s nine women’s athletic programs. This event is open to everyone and encourages family participation. Attendees can look forward to an amazing environment at the course, with female student-athletes helping run the event alongside the coaches from the women's programs.
New this year is the Ruth Howe Spirit Award: Come as best-dressed team or decorated golf cart for your chance to win a team prize. The selection process will be determined by golf committee members and tournament staff.
This year’s tournament will be especially meaningful as it will be the first held without Ruth Howe, who died in December 2023 at the age of 93. The Howe-Welle revives the long-standing Lady Beaver Golf Tournament, which supported women’s athletics at Bemidji State from 1983-2010. The tournament is named in honor of Howe, a former BSU women’s basketball coach (1964-76) and tennis coach (1976-86), and Jeanette Welle, a dedicated supporter of BSU Athletics.
