Happy Homecoming, Beavers! Welcome to Bucky’s Beach Bash!
This week, we’re turning up the heat and making waves for one of the best traditions on campus. The fun starts today and rolls through Sunday—hopefully with a victorious splash into Lake Bemidji on Saturday!
This year’s "Bucky's Beach Bash" theme is the perfect way to celebrate. We’ll be tailgating under the sun, riding the wave of excitement at the football game, partying by the beach, and much more.
Here’s what we’ve got lined up:
Starting today, Monday, vote for your favorite storefront display in our Best BSU Spirit Contest on our Facebook page. The photo with the most likes will rise like a tide and win a prize package!
On Friday, join us for the 2024 Honors Gala—an annual celebration of Bemidji State’s distinguished alumni, President’s Society donors, and Legacy Society members.

The Game Day Experience kicks off Saturday morning from 11-1 p.m. with food, games, and fun on the front lawn of the David Park House. This area will be filled with food trucks, local businesses, and beach-themed activities as we celebrate our community’s support for BSU.
Football tailgating takes over Diamond Point Park from 12-2 p.m., where we’ll grill, chill, and get pumped up for the big game. Grab a burger, toss a football, and enjoy the lakeside vibes!
At 2 p.m., the football game kicks off. Bemidji State faces off in a battle against the University of Mary. Be sure to secure your spot in the stands by grabbing your tickets here—we need you to help cheer BSU on to victory!
Before the game, we are excited to honor our football scholarship donors for their incredible support and commitment to the success of our student-athletes. Their generosity makes it possible for our players to thrive both on and off the field, and we’re proud to recognize them during this special pre-game ceremony.
During the halftime show, we’ll also celebrate our Distinguished Alumni—individuals who have made a significant impact in their careers and communities. This recognition is a cornerstone of our Homecoming tradition, and we are thrilled to showcase their achievements.
Later that day, cheer on our volleyball team inside the BSU Gymnasium as they take on the Huskies of Saint Cloud State. The action kicks off at 5 p.m., and you can buy your tickets here.
And speaking of victory, a homecoming win means another iconic jump into Lake Bemidji for our Beavers. One of the best traditions in college football, right on the shores of one of the most beautiful lakes in the country—you won’t want to miss it!
Finally, grab your flip-flops and get ready for the evening’s entertainment with the annual street dance in downtown Bemidji. The music starts at 8:30 p.m., so get ready to dance the night away with some beachy tunes and good company.
Homecoming weekend wraps up at 3 p.m. on Sunday with the Carl O. Thompson Memorial Concert, bringing a harmonious close to this year’s Beach Bash.
