Bucky the Beaver embraced his moment in the spotlight at the Night We Light parade's grand marshal on Friday, Nov. 29, in downtown Bemidji.
Following the "Captain Christmas" float, Bucky and dozens of other displays weaved through the downtown streets as hundreds of onlookers waved and cheered despite frigid temperatures. Bucky, of course, represented Bemidji State University, with staff members from the Alumni & Foundation and the Office of Admissions on hand to join him.
Bucky's float had a theme of "Building the Dam" as a way to promote Day of Giving 2025. To learn more about the 2025 event, click here.
The evening featured plenty of other festivities, as well, most notably the traditional flipping of the light switch to turn on about 800,000 holiday lights. Immediately afterwards, an awe-inspiring fireworks show lit up the sky.
